We are not a large hosting company. We lease our dedicated server resources from a data center in Lansing, Michigan where we have 24/7 telephone access to excellent technical support. We are available by phone most days from 8A - 9P Pacific Coast Time. We respond to ALL support requests within 24 hours or less.
Our hosting environment meets the current PCI compliance standards which means that your data is secure. Our data center technical support team is based onsite in Lansing Michigan. When you host with us you do not have direct access to this team but you have the benefit of their heroic support through us. When you host your website with us under one of our standard plans your website is in a "shared hosting" environment. However, we do not allow our clients root access to the server and, if you request shell access it will be "jailed". This means that each of our clients is limited to their own home directory and cannot see or access any other client's data.
We run standard backups of all of our client accounts daily, weekly and monthly. We encourage our clients to make their own backups and store them locally for extra protection.
Our main hosting market is the clients that we personally service. These are the customers that we build and manage websites for or that have come to us for advanced email hosting. We are not pursuing the mass volume of hosting clients that the big companies like GoDaddy and Yahoo are after. We encourage customers that know enough about hosting to work with those companies to take advantage of their shared hosting/low cost solutions. We are the hosting company of choice for clients that don't have the time or interest in knowing how to SSH into their server to set permissions and install their own software. Our market advantage is the personal care we provide each client.
Our resources are configured to support the specific programs we recommend and use ourselves such as LiteCommerce, Joomla! 1.5, SiteBuilder Now Tools and Email accounts with advanced spam/virus protection.
We started out as a design and consulting company. While trying to find cost competitive hosting environments for our clients we found it was best to have 100% control over the hosting environment we place our client websites on. We were tired of fighting with oversold shared hosting environments and unpredictable customer support. We want our client websites to run as well with 10,000 products for sale as they do with 100 products for sale - at the same price.
The software we promote and use to develop websites requires specific settings and access. Our e-commerce clients that accept credit cards online are required to have a PCI Complient hosting environment and need to maintain SSL certifications. Our dedicated server resources allow us to help them meet these requirements.
In addition, this approach allows us to maintain an environment where your website's success does not result in degraded performance. We monitor our resources constantly and upgrade our equipment, bandwidth, CPUs and memory as needed to assure your website visitors remain happy with your website. Unlike many large companies that entice new customers with seemingly "cheap" start-up hosting fees that keep going up with your increased success, we have set our prices to be fair today and allow you to grow without big surprises and cost increases as your online business becomes successful. Our e-commerce and database driven hosting packages are robust enough to support thousands of hits per day. However, our standard hosting packages will not facilitate websites that host lots of music, videos, downloadable free software or other types of products that result in massive bandwidth usage. In order to maintain a competitive edge we teach our clients how to optimize their website content and help them maximize their resources.
Our hosting prices are set to cover our expense in monitoring server performance and keeping the server software current and optimized to meet the ever changing standards of world wide web. We also understand that our hosting clients will need occasional help with things like adding/deleting mailbox users, getting into webmail and making the most out of the powerful set of tools we provide with each hosting package.
Our hosting prices do not include website maintenance, support of your personal computer or other technical support that is not directly related to the hosting environment itself.
